…So, this past Wed, Thurs, Sat and Sunday, I volunteered for the Red Cross, who was providing first aid services to the town of Ocean City for the “2011 Dew Tour” weekend, the first stop in their 4-city extreme sports competition. Ocean City hosted BMX Park, BMX Vert, Skateboard Vert and Skateboard Bowl competitions.
A day or two before the competition started, Dew Tour decided they were a little short on staffing, and requested two or three Red Cross-ers to join their athlete medical team, so I was chosen to be loaned out, along with two others, to the Dew Tour for those few days. Through some incredible luck and chance, at the last minute on Saturday, I found myself as one of two medical staff working the BMX skate park finals, stationed ON THE FLOOR of the arena. This portion of the competition was broadcast live on NBC, so I have the following pictures/video stills, all property of NBC Sports except for the first and last, which are property of AlliSports.
An overview of the entire set up:
NBC giving The Red Cross a little airtime. By chance, I’m in this pic on the far right:

I had the BEST seat in the house!
Those guys are crazy.
Guess who caught the National Guard sign live on NBC?
1st place – Kyle Baldock, 2nd Place – Dennis Enarson, 3rd Place – Ryan Nyquist.
What do you think about that??
